Your impact on Indian Economy..give this a thought...

Read the below article and thoughts started hovering on how I could contribute in my own way to the Indian economy...I am seriously giving this a try....I donno if I am prepared yet to be Poorna Swadeshi...but long journey start with small steps right? :)

For now, may be I can replace soap, toothpaste, shampoo and household products....and eventually move on to other stuff IF I FIND IT EFFECTIVE ...

More than 30,000 crore rupees of foreign exchange are being siphoned out of our country on products such as cosmetics, snacks, tea, beverages, etc which are grown, produced and consumed here. A cold drink that costs only 70 / 80 paisa to produce is sold for nine rupees, and a major chunk of profits from these are sent abroad. This is a serious drain on Indian economy.

Coke advertisement says: ‘Jo chaho hojaye, Coca Cola enjoy’. Well, you can consider some of the better alternatives to aerated drinks. You may drink lemon juice, fresh fruit juices, chilled lassi (sweet or sour), butter milk, coconut water, jaljeera, Enerjee, masala milk. Everyone deserves a healthy drink, including you!

Over and above all this, economic sanctions have been imposed on us. We have nothing against multinational companies, but to protect our own interests we request everybody to use Indian products only for next two years. With the rise in petrol prices, if we do not do this, the rupee will devalue further and we will end up paying much more for the same products in the near future.

What you can do about it?

1. Buy only products manufactured by wholly Indian companies.
2. Enroll as many people as possible for this cause.

Each individual should become a leader for this awareness.

This is the only way to save our country from severe economic crisis. You don’t need to give-up your lifestyle. You just need to choose an alternate product.

Are you ready for Dandiya??

Senoritas.....Navratri nu tyohar aavi gayo :) :) Are you all set for next 9 days?

I am sure we all have Dandiya organised in our society typically every year,  one year I had taken efforts to learn the dance properly but now with time I guess I have forgotten or that it just needs refresher course :) When ever we will have our Senoritas meet na, let us all play then :) will be fun:) :)

So tomorrow marks the opening ceremony with Ghatasthapana....here is what happens (as much as I know)
Navarati Kalashsthapana involves invoking the mother Goddess in a Pot or Kalash and sowing of seeds. A kalash with an image of Goddess Durga is installed in the house on the day. Apparently there is timing for this to do and some people even invite pandits. The pot is filled with water and is covered with plate of soil (in olden days they wud cover it with cow dung) and seeds of wheat are sown in the soil. It is watered every day for 9 days...sprinkled water, and by the 10th day you have germinated version of seeds which is used as Prasad.

My South Indian friends have beautiful set up of dolls and decorated images laid on steps. They have display of about 50-60 dolls/images. It is generally haldi kukum time for them. My gujju friends too have puja and make lot of sweets for these 9 days. I have never had a chance to visit any Bengali during these days but I am sure they too will have robust set up.

On 8th day - ashtami day my mom would invite "Kumarika" and do their ovalni and give them lunch and some gift articles. I do not do any of the above, but thought of sharing with you all.

If you have experiences of Navratri, do share...:)

Debate Series - 2

For those who have seen Guru Poornima...here is the debatable question:

Was Poornima's decision to ask for career over child right in the context of the movie?

Looking forward to know your views..

An Embarrassing Situation

Hello Senoritas. I recently got into a slightly embarrassing situation at a Pharmacy. I had gone to get Sanitary napkins and just before I could ask of it, a guy (very smart looking) walked in. I meet him at my gym regularly and must be just out of college. He hello-ed me and then I didn't know how to order for the pads. There was no one else besides just the two of us. I then didn't want to ask for the pads and ended up buying cough syrup. My reaction would have been different had it been a more elderly guy or a stranger. I later thought over it and found it to be very stupid. I would like to know how you ladies would have reacted in such a situation?

Time Management from "7 Habits of Highly effective people".....

I am sure almost all of you have read this book, if not...it is never too late....:)

I want to share one of the most important aspect I feel we should apply to our lives. Divide every task you have in the 2x2 quadrant below and prioritize your work on section it falls into.....come back and tell me if it helped you or not..I am sure it will...:)

This is what the quadrant looks like.
Covey's Quadrant
The 2x2 time management matrix popularized by Stephen Covey.

Every activity can be put in one of the four quadrants

Emails in your Inbox....

Pratima Bhabhi....this one is for you...thanks for asking that question as to what I meant when I said number of emails in your inbox tells the personality type. So here it is:
The saying goes that you should clear your emails regularly, it is sign of discipline and also talks about you as a person. You may have multiple accounts..Official, Gmail, Yahoo, hotmail..you may clear some regularly, some periodically. Naturally you may choose to respond on your office account promptly but say Gmail can be weekly or hotmail monthly or more.....
When you keep all your accounts up to date on daily basis, you are perfectly balancing. Expert at it!
When you do that within weeks time, you are good and can do better. And anything more than that, you are procrastinator :) And this does not apply only to emails, this applies to your attitude in all aspect of life.
I had read the above context and hence had posted that on our blog :)

So all of you, get back to checking "pending" status of all things you must do and get towards better you :)

Have a great week ahead All!

Compulsory disorder :)

Is there anything you insist as "Compulsory" action/reaction in your daily ? For example , seeing your child/husband off at the door (now that we have grown ups, school and college may not be applicable) but is it like compulsory?

Particular habits like having rice to complete your meal sometimes is compulsory disorder. People do not feel they had a complete meal if they have not had a spoonful of rice...watching movie with popcorn is like compulsory disorder for few and

Husband has to say I love U too compulsory for few :) :)

Whats your take in such disorders? Do you know of any, you have any??

Organic food....

You must have seen organic food that are available in form of pulses and grains. Have any of you used it, using it? Is it more healthy? Any information on this will be interesting....

About our blog...

I am sure we share the "snippets" from our wats-apps Senorita group chat with our respective family members, if you have received interesting comments from them, please do share here :)

Also, what is your idea about expanding this to few more like-minded Senoritas??

Manipulations and conveniences :)

You must have come across situations where you must have seen practices, rituals being manipulated as per the convenience. For ex: Coconut used in Puja were to be used to make something sweet and to be distributed to all as prasad. With times, we conveniently accept that coconut can be used in regular meals just that it should not be used for cooking non-veg meal :) Some may go step beyond and say veg or non veg, how does it matter. You can use coconut as you wish....

What is your take?
