MY JOURNAL 28

Each one of us have tips and tricks in our daily life which make our daily living a little effortless.
lets share with each other those little things that make our day effortless.

28: WRITE SOME (as many as you want) THINGS THAT MAKE YOUR DAY TO DAY LIFE  EFFORTLESS OR A LITTLE BIT SIMPLER .

You can give tips that help us in homemaking, or you at work like some organizational tips..

There are certain things that you wish were not the way they are and it would have made life easier
Like I feel I should not go on buying magazines and not feel like discarding them , adding to the clutter and off-course adding to my day to day cleaning and organizing.

I feel keeping your daily "must take " to office or college/school in one place in the living room , helps in avoiding a lot of chaos in the morning.

  2. I am not a expert here, but I strongly feel that if you yourself is well organised, then things get very simple. On day to day basis, plan your next day meal including your breakfast on the previous day and keep all the things you will require handy. Also give instructions to your maid the previous night of the things she has to keep ready in the order that you will require. Keep your marketing days fixed so that you dont have to rush last minute to get that particular fruit or vegetable or fish. Nowadays many grocery stores, supermarkets, vegetable vendors and even fish vendors give door to door delivery. Avail of this facility. They will charge you little more but it will save a lot of your time and energy.

  4. What if you don't have maid to give these instructions?? :) Jokes apart...I don't have live in maid and I at times don't even meet my maid for a day. By and large I cook on my own and also get grocery (for the month - 1st or 2nd) and vege/fruits (for the week - Sun) on fixed days. I have to do my own laundry and giving and getting clothes from laundry shop is my job I do weekly basis. I don have elaborate menu for the day so I dont really need to plan a lot and my cooking is limited to just 3 so it is not a big fuss. My only challenge is Sanam tiffin that i need to wreck my brains. She has specific likes n dislikes and sukha khaan not allowed that limits my options.I get milk and eggs as well myself on every alternate days. I can choose to have this delivered at door step but none of us are at home in given time to take deliveries.
I do not like ready made masala pastes, purees, and prefer to make my own. I wud like to make munching stuff (Chivda, Bhadang) or tea time snacks at home. Any more stuff or ideas around that? Any system do you gals follow for gas booking, gas delivery, filling up car petrol (generally it is need basis), newspaper payment, making pickles, jam and bread spreads, sauces by yourself?

  5. Generally I hear Pappa & Baba talk about management of things :) I am sure they are good at it and specially during Chavath/Diwali times we get to hear them more often. But Siddha, I have seen him closely involved in tasks that he undertakes and believe me...they are MIGHTY organised!! I am sure Sweta can write volumes on Siddha's organizational skills :)
If I have to sum up on Siddha, the one liner thought he has in his mind sees hundred pages of illustrations of that vision :) Simply a perfectionist !!

  6. Very well written Madhavi and Sweta
I love to have a menu plan for the next day as I have to cook three complete meals , I have a diary which has my menu plan for the next day and my TO DO LIST
I have a page where I write the important things that I have to do in that month and try to complete that as and when I can.
I feel having a CATCH ALL DRAWER in the kitchen or in the room nearest to the door is a very essential thing , keep trays in it which hold the items required for easy excess let me point out a few
TRAY FOR A PEN, PENCIL, ERASER, PERMANENT MARKER AND STAPLE
    SMALL BOWL OF LOOSE COINS.
A SMALL WALLET OR POUCH FOR THE MONEY TO BE PAID FOR COURIERS OR HOME DELIVERY
A SMALL BOWL (I used unused pretty bowls) for rubber-bands and clips
ONE MEDIUM SIZED POUCH FOR THOSE CARDS AND OTHER MISC ITEMS
AND ONE EMPTY PAD FOR JOTTING DOWN IMP THINGS.
This type of drawer makes life really very easy.
Sweta please share some tips with us .. and I feel Govind mama, Vasumama and Siddha should share these skills with us too.
We can add as we think of more.

  7. Yes Siddha is a perfectionist I can say amongst u all I was the first to experience his organisational skill . As our class representative then aa our CS. Now coming to my skills I am a bit disorganised but manage to get around in the end. So very difficult to give tips to others .
